Home Assistant

A Crestron Home platform driver that brings the Home Assistant devices you select into Crestron Home as managed child devices of one driver. Data flows one way, from Home Assistant to Crestron Home. A companion integration, Clume HA Bridge, runs in Home Assistant.

What it does

  • Selected Home Assistant entities become managed children of one platform driver, not one driver per entity.
  • You choose the entities with the Home Assistant label clume_export. It is not a blind import of everything.
  • Eight Home Assistant domains: light, switch, input_boolean, binary_sensor, lock, cover, fan and climate.
  • Lights get native on/off, dimming and tunable-white colour temperature. Switches and input_booleans become on/off loads.
  • Locks use the native lock control. Garage doors, gates and powered doors use the native entry control.
  • Fans get speed and direction; climate gets a thermostat with setpoints and modes.
  • Door and motion sensors appear as status tiles and raise Opened, Closed and Motion events for Configure Pro actions.
  • A device shows Offline when Home Assistant reports it unavailable. After a restart, children are back in about 1 s, marked offline until Home Assistant confirms them.
  • The driver serves its own setup page: map Home Assistant rooms to Crestron rooms, create missing rooms and commission the selected devices. Nothing is created until you press Apply.
  • A pushed WebSocket link to Home Assistant, with polling as the fallback.

Devices and protocols

  • Home Assistant REST and WebSocket APIs, with a long-lived access token
  • The Clume HA Bridge companion integration in Home Assistant
  • Crestron Home on a CP4-R

Requirements

  • A Crestron Home processor with firmware for SDK 21 or later. A new CP4-R on September 2022 firmware needed a firmware update before the package would import.
  • A Home Assistant instance the processor can reach. Its address and port (8123 by default) are typed in.
  • A Home Assistant long-lived access token.
  • The Clume HA Bridge companion, copied by hand into Home Assistant's custom_components folder and added under Devices and Services.
  • The entities to bring over labelled clume_export in Home Assistant.

Limits to know before you install

  • One way only: from Home Assistant to Crestron Home.
  • No network discovery of Home Assistant: type its address.
  • The companion is installed by hand. There is no installer and no HACS route.
  • Not supported: media players, numeric sensors and scenes.
  • At most 150 child devices.
  • Shades and blinds are built but not yet confirmed on a touch screen.
  • Tested in the Crestron Home app. Clume touch panels are out of scope for this driver.
  • Status tiles in the Other and Sensor categories show "Type: None".
  • Known defect, fix planned: while any entity is unavailable, some entities may not publish.
